Special construction to improve ventilation
In case of some functional outer wear, use of wind proof or water proof shell fabric is required, which is less permeable to perspiration .Breathable fabric is used to overcome this problem but breathability performance is limited. To further improve release of moisture through the water proof and wind proof clothing, some designers have developed special construction between fabric layers. A ribbed ventilating under garment is developed which can be worn beneath a non porous outer garment i.e wind proof or water proof garment. In this type of garment , a series of parallel raised ribs or cords created on the fabric surface to form the air channels. Use of two layers of ribbed fabric for under garment s ensures better moisture and heat transfer from the body surface.
Cooling vest is developed for the air crews .The garment contains inlet and outlet ports for gaseous fluid to pass through for cooling purpose. Multilayer fabric is used including two impermeable layer to retain gaseous fluid. Thus cooling effect could be circulated for a longer use to the wearer body. Another special design of protective clothing against storm and rain is use of multilayer fabric in the garment with special holes in the shoulder area . The inner layer is the lining fabric with holes to allow moisture and warm air to pass through. The second layer is the wavy fabric which allows moisture and heat to move upwards to shoulder area where there are holes in the garments which allow heat and moisture to evaporate in the out side air. The third layer is a 18 padding fabric which retains still air providing thermal insulation and protects body from cold environment. The outer layer is the wind and rain proof fabric. Figure
