Clothing & comfort Convection
Heat loss or gain by convection process from human body depends upon the surrounding air temperature and air movement.
Air passing over the skin
surface not only evaporates moisture but also transfer sensible heat to or from the body.
The faster the rate of air movement, the more the convective heat loss.
The larger the body surface area, the greater the rate of heat loss.
(c) Conduction :
With direct contact of the human body with physical objects such as chair, floor etc conductive heat loss or gain occurs.
Conduction allows us to loose or gain heat when lying, or sitting on floor or other surfaces.
Clothing slows down conductive heat loss
Clothing also acts as insulator
